SAINT Announces SCAP Validation by NIST

SAINT provides standardization benefits of SCAP, a U.S. Government mandated initiative

Bethesda, MD – SAINT today announced validation as an SCAP Authenticated Vulnerability and Patch Scanner and Unauthenticated Vulnerability Scanner by the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). SAINT is now recognized as a validated partner for vulnerability scanning and assessment of U.S. government networks by NIST.

The Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) is a specification established by NIST for expressing and manipulating security data in standardized ways.

To become SCAP validated, SAINT was rigorously tested by an independent SCAP-accredited laboratory. The SCAP Validation Program is designed to test the ability of products to use the features and functionality available through SCAP and its component standards.

"We are very pleased to be able to achieve this major milestone in our product line. Our vulnerability scanning and assessment capabilities have been well received by our customers in the past, and achieving SCAP compliance will now enable us to offer these same capabilities to the Federal Government, said Randall Laudermilk, SAINT Product Development Manager.

"We were delighted to be selected to perform SCAP testing of the SAINT 7.2 product and hope this certification will benefit both SAINT and their government clients," said Ashit Vora, SAIC SCAP Testing Laboratory Director.
