SAINT Earns NIST SCAP Validation Second Year in a Row
SAINT provides standardization benefits of SCAP, a U.S. Government mandated initiative
Bethesda, MD – SAINT today announced that its flagship vulnerability scanner has once again been tested and validated as an SCAP Authenticated Vulnerability and Patch Scanner and Unauthenticated Vulnerability Scanner by the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). SAINT continues to be recognized as a validated partner for vulnerability scanning and assessment of U.S. government networks by NIST.
The Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) is a specification established by NIST for expressing and manipulating security data in standardized ways. SCAP includes a suite of open standards that enumerates software flaws, security related configuration issues, and product names, measures systems to determine the presence of vulnerabilities, and provides mechanisms to rank (score) the results of these measurements in order to evaluate the impact of the discovered security issues. SCAP defines how these standards are used in unison to accomplish these capabilities.
To become SCAP validated, SAINT was rigorously tested by an independent SCAP-accredited laboratory. The SCAP Validation Program is designed to test the ability of products to use the features and functionality available through SCAP and its component standards.
"We are very pleased to receive validation from NIST that our product solution continues to support the SCAP specification. Our support throughout the SCAP specifications continues to grow with each release cycle. Building on our capabilities as an Authenticated Vulnerability and Patch Scanner and Unauthenticated Vulnerability Scanner, as well as continuing our work in Configuration benchmarks related to FDCC and USGCB, is a key aspect of our goal to meet our customers’ requirements in risk management and compliance reporting," said Randall Laudermilk, SAINT Product Development Manager.
