SAINT Case Study – Bashas' Grocery
Industry – Grocery
Bashas' Supermarkets uses SAINT to implement centralized network vulnerability scanning and penetration testing.
"SAINT provides Bashas’ with the flexibility to perform on demand scans or, as part of our overall security stance, schedule deep penetration scans and vulnerability assessments.
SAINT Customer Support is the gold standard for assistance. When issues arise, SAINT Customer Support is on the issue and with an average resolution time of less than one hour in most cases. SAINT’s philosophy for support is seeing the problem to resolution, even if the issue is not related to their products.
Ease of implementing the SAINT solution is one of the strengths of their solution. Within a half hour of the appliance being unboxed, we were scanning our network for vulnerabilities. There is virtually no learning curve, due to the extensive online help and intuitive interface."
—Lou Labenskyj, Directory of IT Security, Bashas' Inc.
The Challenge – Protecting Bashas’ Supermarkets infrastructure including point-of-sale, PCI related data, as well as other network resources. Every day new vulnerabilities surface that, if exploited, could cause irreparable harm to the business.
The Solution – The SAINTbox™ appliance is used to implement SAINT® vulnerability scanning and SAINTexploit™ penetration testing policy throughout the various nodes of the network. The ability to perform these tests in both an attended and unattended mode is one of the strengths of the SAINT solution.
Lou Labenskyj, Bashas’ Director if IT Security, has developed a comprehensive security plan that includes vulnerability management and regular scanning of network resources to comply with not only the PCI mandates but to protect Bashas’ from both external and internal exploits.
Like many other corporations, Bashas’ network has many diverse nodes throughout. All of these points of entry need to be validated as secure on a timely basis. New exploits are discovered daily and SAINT has been extremely proactive in determining the severity and more importantly guiding us on “how” to remediate them. Prior to SAINT, Bashas’ engaged with outside vendors with no real knowledge of their capabilities. With SAINT, Bashas’ is poised to retain their high level of security awareness and quick remediation to network exploits.
